This new facility at Chennai will now become the hot spot for all minimal access surgical training activities from now on. Built in a 3500 Sq Feet space, this training centre with 2 labs, one for advanced laparoscopic training and another for various simulation will give for the traineer an ideal platform to hone their skills. Laparoscopic training lab has 7 work stations of international standards including Hi-Definition Camera, Imported training modules and modular OT systems to enhance the learning experience. The simulation lab is equipped with the most modern training simulators including Lap Mentor and Sim man which will give a virtual hands on experience to the trainees. The centre will be run by a team of experts led by Dr C. Palanivelu, the founder president of AMASI. The faculty for each training course is carefully selected after satisfying the credentials. Faculty will be of International and National repute who will add value to the training courses. The training module will have hands on experiences in labs, one to one interactions, live demonstration, video based education and interactive lectures. To facilitate all these components, the centre has a 35 Seater Smart Class room with state of the all telecommunication facilities. The classroom is connected to all 9 Operating Rooms of GEM Hospital, Chennai and 7 OTs of GEM Hospital, Coimbatore through dedicated fibre link. This will enable the participants to learn surgeries at the highest level of clarity including 3D & 4K quality.
To add more value to the training courses, each of them will have affiliation and association with various scientific and statutory bodies including Medical Council, Universities and societies. Post training follow up including skill enhancement, career growth and professional guidance for each trainee is also planned. SMART will not only train surgeons and medical doctors, but also parame dical staff, OT and CSSD technicians to provide a comprehensive training to the entire team.
