Course Convenor
Dear Esteemed Participants,
We are delighted to welcome you to the Hands-On 2-Day Bariatric Surgery Course, a focused and immersive training program designed to provide a strong foundation in bariatric surgery. This course offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge, practical exposure, and expert-led guidance, ensuring that participants gain the essential skills required for safe and effective bariatric surgical practice.
This program covers all the fundamental components of bariatric surgery, beginning with patient selection, pre-operative evaluation, and preparation protocols. Participants will also learn critical aspects of anesthesia planning, operative setup, and key decision points that influence surgical outcomes. Detailed sessions on Sleeve Gastrectomy, Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB), and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) will provide step-by-step insights into techniques, indications, benefits, and technical nuances.
In addition, the course includes structured discussion on patient counseling, perioperative management, and post-operative follow-up, enabling a holistic understanding of bariatric care. Emphasis will be placed on identifying and managing potential complications, optimizing patient safety, and implementing evidence-based best practices.
To complement the academic sessions, the program features interactive lectures, live surgical demonstrations, and hands-on wet-lab training. Participants will gain practical exposure to tissue handling, stapling methods, anastomosis techniques, and reconstruction steps under the supervision of experienced faculty. These modules aim to enhance surgical confidence, precision, and operative planning skills.
The faculty will also share perspectives on emerging trends, long-term outcomes, advancements in minimally invasive bariatrics, and the role of multidisciplinary care. A dedicated MCQ-based assessment further reinforces learning, allowing participants to evaluate their understanding and identify areas for improvement.
This course is ideally designed for aspiring bariatric surgeons, practicing general surgeons, and surgical trainees seeking advanced skills and structured hands-on experience. By the end of the program, participants will leave with a refined set of technical abilities, enhanced decision-making confidence, and practical insights that can be readily applied in their clinical practice.
We wish you an enriching learning experience and a productive two days of skill-building and professional growth.
Warm regards,
